Director of Market Strategy and Portfolio Insights
This Strategy leadership position represents a key role within the Strategy and Business Development organization and will serve as a key advisor and potential successor for the head of the BD&L organization within this $5B division.
The Director of Market Strategy will actively monitor clinical industry trends within core surgical procedural areas, anticipate sources of disruption and future change, and develop actionable strategies to bolster market positions. This individual will serve as an internal expert and advisor in all core procedural matters, and will influence key leadership within this division and the broader Company organization in key business decisions.
The Director of Market Strategy will:
Lead monitoring of trends and potential sources of change within core product areas through field-based observation, market research, and internal/external networking.
Build, maintain, and communicate predictive life cycle based assessments of current and future market states based on fact-based analytics and strategic insights.
In partnership with functional experts, develop actionable strategies to enhance growth prospects of current products, bolster value proposition to customers, and enhance portfolio offering within core procedure areas.
Inform and influence broader divisional strategy development, Business Development (external partnering) activities, and organic new platform pursuits to achieve strategic objectives.
Develop a strong cross-functional network within the organization to efficiently, effectively, and collaboratively gather data, build intelligence and insights, and develop common/consistent perspectives.
Serve as a key partner and highly credible advisor to Division leadership to identify and address strategic gaps and to manage innovation pipelines appropriately.
Communicate strategies within the organization and to Corporate Executives in regular reporting forums.
Requirements:
BS degree required, MBA preferred with 10 to 15 years experience in business related function including strategic planning, business development, sales, marketing, or business management.
Prior proven management experience is required. Must be able to demonstrate historical success managing high-level strategic teams in a highly matrixed and interdependent organization structure.
Knowledge/experience of international markets and global experience strongly preferred within the surgical or medical device industry.
Significant strategic planning or market analysis or marketing experience, preferably within the healthcare industry.
Transformational strategic thinker/change agent with proven track record of achieving breakthrough business results in healthcare, particularly medical devices, or related field.
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply clinical data to support marketing claims.
Ability to analyze complex data to identify key trends, opportunities, and risks.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills needed; must have excellent teamwork and influencing skills with ability to gain support from all levels of organization while overcoming barriers to progress.
Strong cross-functional leadership experience and track record.
Able to drive regional and cross functional collaboration that exceeds the standards and oversee management of project.
