Senior Accountant

Functions: * Prepares and processes accounting journal entries for the more/most complex accounts* Works independently with others in the Company to obtain necessary details behind accounting entries or to resolve any discrepancies* Prepares, processes, and corrects accounting journal entries identified through review of others work or for changes in account information* Timely reconciles financial balances for more complex accounts to underlying support and researches and resolves discrepancies on a timely basis; oversees the process of all balance sheet account reconciliations among the Accountant I and II positions to ensure all accounts are appropriately reconciled and performs first round of review prior to providing to the Finance Manager* Assists the Finance Manager in preparation of the tax provision and deferred tax calculations* Works collaboratively with our external tax preparer in preparing the quarterly tax deposit schedules, providing request items for the annual tax return and performing reviews of the drafts of the tax return (corporate and Charitable Foundation returns)* Provides oversight and coaching to the Accountant I and II positions; serves as back-up in the absence of either position* Works collaboratively with the Financial Analysts to interpret and analyze accounting records (of your own and those of the Accountant I and II), and also provides analysis to the Finance Managers as needed* Assists in the review of the monthly and quarterly reporting packages for the Board of Directors and management* Assists in the preparation of more complex components of quarterly and annual financial statements and is a primary reviewer of those financial statements* Maintains proficiency in GAAPThe successful applicant will possess the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise): * BS Accounting with Masters degree a plus* A CPA is preferred, but is not required* 3-5 years of accounting experience; prefer some G/L experience; but straight public is OK* Strong technical accounting (GAAP), systems, and analysis skills
